   Not necessarily true at all. Unless there was some MAJOR problem. I work on hyundai vehicles and 99 percent of the time an airbag light is just on to indicate a momentarily bad connection to a sensor somewhere on the vehicle. Occasionally it means an impact sensor or connector should be replaced if it has caused small faults in the past. The safest thing to do is take it to a dealer as soon as convenient and have them diagnose and repair it.

   Hyundai? On Nissan Maxima you must have the Air Bag codes read. There are codes in past and current. Past codes are those temporary ones. Air bag control is very expensive and air bags get expensive too. ((( air bags ))) are not designed to last forever. No one will tell you what will happen when a 15 year old air bag deploys. Years ago 1984 Mercedes Benz SLC German coupe had a air bag warning that the bags were only designed to last 10 years. Heat cold humidity and old age fabric folded into the steering wheel? KA-BOOM
