Replacement Airbags For your Vehicle

have a 94 ford f150- the airbag light flashes 3 times, stops, does it again. what’s wrong?

take it to a mechanic or your dealer as there is something wrong with an air bag sensor.

i think you should go ask a specialist near you or read the manual. hope this helps

you need to take it to a ford garage and get the ECU reset its the engine management system

This usually happens if there’s something wrong with the fuse(power generated by car battery), if that, its really easy to change it, usually its placed under the steering wheel(looks like a little chip). If not you should probably get it checked just for extra safety.;)

ignore Habib, he doesn’t have the slightest idea what he is talking about.

The light is flashing to let you know that the computer has detected a problem with the airbag system and deactivated the airbag system to prevent accidental deployment of the airbag. You are in no danger from the airbag but it will not work if you were in an accident that required it. You will need to take it to a mechanic that has a scanner to read the trouble codes for the airbag system. It could be something a simple as a fuse but you will need the scanner to also clear the trouble codes so that your airbag starts working properly, if you should ever need it.

If someone is sitting in the seat the sensor is bad. And it may not deploy in a accident.

A similar question in the reader’s question in the Sunday tribune Rides section. Bob Weber was the columnist.

i agree with the answer given by "ballroom r" . it can be something simple, like a fuse or clock spring. a scanner is definitely needed.
i wouldn’t recommend going to the places that offer "free scans" as most are using low tech scanners. while such scanners are capable of reading codes, most do not DIAGNOSING what CAUSED the codes to appear in the first place. 1 code may cause another to pop up (false codes).
you don’t really have to go to a dealership either though. i would call around to the local shops and inquire as to their Equipment.

    Hi Caflowerlover
you are describing a code 33. This would indicate:
33 Passenger Side Air Bag Circuit High Resistance or Open

There are specific items that are required replacement items when a deployment occurs or when an airbag light comes on…and there are some items that are "check only". Check out the websites below for the EXACT answers to your questions including fault code charts and reset information. This site tells you exactly what needs to be replaced and how to access them (seat belts & all) on over 3500 cars. It’s a pay site ($14.95 / day), but it’s little money well spent to get the correct answers and to see exactly what you’re after…it uses pictures, not text, so you can see what you’re looking for.
This is the same website insurance companies and body shops use to determine what needs to be replaced.
Good Luck…it’s not too bad of a job & if your state allows it, used parts or parts from ebay should be ok
Lastly, here’s a page in this site that tells you which cars need a scan tool to reset the system and which ones can be done without it.
