   Not sure on the Escorts dude , but I know on a Transit bus a ford tech guy told me that theres a chance the bag WONT deploy when the lite is on, so get a grip of a FORD tech by fone or web on the Ford Forums or get down to local stealers

   seat belt pre tensioner located under passenger seat. to resolve either pull fuse & leave out for 5mins with ignition on,light will stay on untill fuse put back in then system should reset . if not remove passenger seat ( very easy only 4bolts) then unplug from sensor and replug back in. this is a common fault as plugs work themselves loose
