Airbag light?

Replacement Airbags For your Vehicle

On my holden ute, the airbag light has come on recently because I changed my steering wheel. What do I do to get rid of the airbag warning light?

I want it gone because I dont care about it.

When I go for rego I will put the steering wheel back on with the airbag but other than that I am going to be driving around with an after market steering wheel.

Do I do something with the mode button or what?

you could either take out the bulb….

or buy a resistor with the same ohms rating as your airbag and put that into the connector…so then your vehicles bcm would be "tricked" into thinking that there is an airbag there when theres really not.

see if you can find out the resistance of your airbag but DO NOT test your airbag with an ohm meter. ohm meters send a small amount of voltage through the circuit to test resistance and this could possibly set off the airbag.

your best bet would to maybe call a dealership and ask them…or even just fool around with different resistors till the light turns off.

jacksons i tend to disagree…based on personal experience doing this and it working…also the fact that SIR systems…like obd2 are self diagnostic..if the bcm sees what it wants to see…like resistance in the circuit like it should be…the light will turn off because the code would then be gone.

remove the bulb, its there to warn you about a problem that you are aware of. As far as I know there is no way to turn it off.

mr bungle, even if he found a proper resistor it would still be lit because a code would be set.

The light is coming on because the air bag failed the self-test. When a working airbag is connected up the light will go out. You did not give the year. On newer cars, disconnecting the airbag light will just give another error that the warning lights aren’t working.
