   I think it means that you either need to replace the airbag or it is about to inflate. It may just be because it is older.

   it will not harm your car to drive it with the light on…a airbag sensor has failed in the system and needs to be replaced. This needs to be done by a professional or a dealership. Trying to do this yourself can cause the airbag to detonate while you are working on it or while you are driving.

   I should preface this with a warning, I am no technician and don’t actually know all of the factors that can cause that light to go on. But my first thought is that it is an electrical connection that is loose and causing you issue, but it could always be an issue with the airbag itself. You won’t do any damage driving around with the light on, but I would be concerned about the possibility of the airbag going off, or just as bad, not going off in the event of an accident.

   I would call the dealer and ask them how urgent they think it is, but I wouldn’t mess around with the safety equipment…

   It may mean that there is some sort of defect going on with it. Have it checked as soon as you can. You may also want to call the shop and ask them, to see if it is a 911 so to speak, so then at least you will know. That will tell you if you can wait a little before you take it in or if you need to move it and get it in a.s.a. p.

   When that light came on in my van, they said it meant that the air bag would not work. There was a recall for a lot of the airbag releases. When that’s the problem, The cruise control doesn’t work and eventually the horn and blinkers will stop working.

    i got in a minor accident a couple a years ago, and the air bag light went off in my car, and it was on for about a month, and eventually the air bag ejected randomly on one of my drives. You shoul really get that checked that out, before the same thing that happened to me happens to you.

    If the light is on the airbag will not deploy due to a malfunction, you can drive it and not worry about it going off but I would take it in and have it fixed asap.

    driving around with it on shouldnt hurt it anymore than it is. Most of the time I find that those problems are either a loose connection, or a faulty clock spring..Either way have a professional look at it.

    it sounds like you have a bad crash sensor. it will not hurt the car to drive it, however if you git in a crash the air bag may not go off. use caution.
