@juno1943 ive heard that from other people too. maybe theyre using ripoff brands and charging for oem stuff. one other thing is that the clockspring needs to be centered when its intsalled. most come with a little plastic holder that you remove once its installed and that keeps it centered. if its off center it can break the ribbon when you turn the wheel.

I agree. Since the airbag didn’t work anyway, my repair is limited to the 3 wires associated with the cruise and the horn. This is preferable to having nothing working, but I will get a new clock spring if and when I can find one. This will be the third one for this van. That is pathetic. The other two were “professionally installed.”, OEM.

@juno1943 might not be a good idea, after all the wires for the airbag run through it and if tose get messed up it could set it off.

Thanks. Although it came in on this video (and it’s good too) my comment was supposed to apply to the other video where you are taking out the clock spring and replacing it. (I think you got that.) The Ford clock spring part number for a 1994 E-150 Van is F4TA-14A664-CE and they are getting hard to find. I am (actually) giving “repair” a try. It’s gonna be interesting!

Good video. It also applies to my 1994 Ford E-150 Van. You mentioned that you got an “off brand” for about $60. Since I can’t find one for less than $130. I am looking for another source. Apparently the 94 Ford part is getting scarce. Anyone care to share a source?

@Matthew55904 you can but i find it easier to just remove the battery terminal. that way i dont have to go to the trouble of finding the fuse.

@Matthew55904 the clock spring is this little disc thingy with a ribbon of wires inside. the wires wind and unwind when the steering wheel is turned. its purpose is to allow electrical signals from the cruse control, airbag and horn to connect to the rest of the vehicle while allowing the steering wheel to turn freely.
