Volvo XC90 Ignition won’t turn past 1 SRS Airbag light On?
I have a 2007 Volvo XC90. Tonight, suddenly, the key won’t turn past 1 in the ignition and the SRS Airbag light comes on for about 5 seconds then goes out. No other instrument lights lights turn on, just the SRS light. The brake pedal is stiff and the vehicle won’t come out of park. I am stuck in the middle of Tasmania tonight and there are no mechanics until Monday 200km’s away! Please help!
there is nothing wrong with srs. The light always comes on for approx. 5 secs after starting and then goes out if nothing is wrong with the srs system.
The brake pedal will always be stiff if the car isn’t running because you won’t have any vacuum in the booster.
Check to see if you have locked the steering wheel. If the steering wheel is locked turn/wiggle wheel while trying to turn the key.
Other than that, (and i’m assuming you know the correct starting procedure eg. foot on the brake etc) from the info you’ve given, i’d Guess ignition barrel is shot. In which case, i’m sorry to say, you’re probably stuck for a few days.
It sounds like the computer thinks the car is wrecked. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ignition locks up post collision as a safety feature. I would try disconnecting the battery for about 10 or 20 minutes then putting back on. See if the computer resets
